Puzzle Book Smith is a web app for making complete, print-ready puzzle books for Amazon KDP and other print-on-demand platforms. It has 40+ puzzle and activity types, AI-generated word lists and content on Pro and Studio plans, custom layout tools, and simple PDF export.

Double Proof is our quality check, exclusive to Puzzle Book Smith. After a page is generated, a second and independent set of checks reviews it before it can be exported. Logic puzzles are confirmed to have exactly one answer. Word lists, counts and labels printed on the page are verified. The whole book is kept free of repeats, including individual words in your word searches, and everything is screened for family safety. It runs automatically on every page, on every plan. There is nothing to switch on.

No. You don't need any design or technical skills. Every step is point-and-click. Pick a puzzle type, set it up, and click Generate. The app handles the AI content and the PDF layout for you.

Give the AI a theme, like "Ocean Animals," plus an age range and puzzle type. It builds a matching word list with clues right away. You can also type or paste your own word list at any time.

Pro and Studio plans include AI content generation. Pick a theme and age range, and the AI creates word lists, trivia questions, brain teasers, and more right away. You can also enter your own custom content on any plan.

The PDF includes a custom cover page, an optional table of contents, every puzzle page laid out and typeset, and a full answer key. Files are sized for standard KDP paperback formats.

Yes. The Layout Editor lets you set paper size, font, heading and body text size, margins, borders, header and footer text, and columns. Every change shows up right away in the live preview.

Page limits depend on your plan: Starter gets 200 pages, Pro gets 800, and Studio gets 1,500. Most published puzzle books use 50 to 150 pages. Very large books can take longer to export.

Click the eye icon to see your whole book rendered page by page, at print quality. It uses the same fonts, grids, and layout as the final PDF.

Yes. Drag any page tile in the Pages panel to a new spot in the book.

Yes. Every AI-generated puzzle has a Regenerate button. It skips words already used in other puzzles of the same type in your book, so you never get duplicates.

Yes. The PDF export includes an answer key at the back of the book. You can set its density, badge style, position, and look to match your book.

Puzzles can target ages 5 to 7, 8 to 10, 11 to 13, 14+, and Adults. The AI adjusts word difficulty, sentence style, and clue style to match the age range you pick.

Every page you generate uses credits. Simple word puzzles cost a few credits each. AI content, like trivia, brain teasers, and image-based puzzles, costs more because it uses more AI. The Generate button always shows the exact cost before you click, so you know what you're spending. Your balance shows in the dashboard header at all times.

Your balance has three buckets: subscription credits (refill every billing cycle), rollover credits (unused subscription credits carried forward, up to a cap), and purchased credits (token packs you buy directly). Purchased credits stay available as long as your subscription is active. When you generate a page, credits come out of subscription first, then rollover, then purchased.

Yes, you can cancel any time. Canceling stops your next renewal, and you keep access through the end of your current billing period.

If you cancel, purchased credits expire at the end of your subscribed term. They are not refundable.

AI use is at your own risk. AI can make mistakes, and a puzzle request that is too complex can fail. Credits used or lost on any credit-based action are not refundable, with no exceptions.

Your projects stay in your account for good. Nothing gets deleted when you cancel. You can still log in, view your books, and re-export any PDF you already made. What you lose is access to gated features: AI content generation, Pro and Studio-only puzzle types, and ongoing credit refills. Purchased credits (from token packs) expire at the end of your current billing period, as noted above.

Uploaded custom-page images stay for 30 days after cancellation, then get cleaned up automatically. Re-subscribe within that window and they are still there. Re-subscribe later and your projects pick up right where you left off.

Your projects, generated content, and uploaded images are stored on Supabase (PostgreSQL with row-level security). Only you can read your own data. Other users on the platform cannot see your books, even through direct queries. Backups are handled by Supabase's standard service.

To delete your account, email support and we'll remove your projects, pages, and uploaded images. We keep anonymized usage records, with no identifying information, for accounting. If you need a full GDPR or CCPA data export before deleting, ask in the same email and we'll send you a JSON file of everything tied to your account.

Most exports finish in under 10 seconds. Larger books (200 or more pages, or books with many AI-image puzzles) can take 30 to 60 seconds. We render every page at print quality, then combine them into one PDF with bookmarks. Digital and interactive exports take a bit longer than print because of the extra bookmark and link work.

Do not refresh the page while an export is running. Credits are spent the moment you click Generate or Export, and refreshing during an export will not refund them. Give it time. No export should run more than 3 minutes without showing a warning. If an export hangs past that point with no progress message, contact support so we can find the page that is breaking the export. In the meantime, mark that page Locked and re-export. The rest of the book will finish around it.
